The introductionary IB workshop for the 11th graders took place on August 15. This year the teachers decided to go climbing in Rathen. We met up at lunchtime and took the train towards Bad Schandau.
When we arrived, we received our climbing gear from the guides and made our way to the climbing site. The first group started climbing right away. Our first course was a vertical wall with a height of about 15 meters. After completing it, those who wanted to could continue climbing all the way to the top of the rock which was about 25m. Once everyone had made it up, the guides taught us how to climb down on our own.
For dinner we had pizza, and afterwards we continued on to Bad Schandau, where we walked together to the Jugendherberge. In the evening, everyone gathered to play a round of Werwolf, which was the last activity of the day.
The next morning we had breakfast at 8 o’clock. Afterwards, we took part in an IB immersion session, where we discussed everything we needed to know about the IB Diploma, all the IB courses, CAS and the Extended Essay. At around 11 we packed our things, headed back to the train, and made our way back to Dresden.
